I think championships are way overrated, and I can't stand when someone mention championships when it comes to comparing players. Because every player doesn't get the same opportunity to play along side other good players. I think we as fans get to caught up on winning teams and forget about someones talent has an individual. Since someone have more titles doesn't mean they're better then the other guy. It just means the that guy with the titles was fortunate enough to play on a championship franchise(right place & right time).
Example:
Horry's 6 rings to Bird's 3, who's better?(Bird)
Sally's 4 or 5 ring's to Ewing's 0, who's better?(Ewing)
Kobe's 3 rings to Wade's 1, who's better?(Wade)
Russell's 11 ring to MJ's 6, who's bettter?(MJ)
H. Grant's 4 or 5 rings to Barkey's 0, who's better(Sir)
Haslem's 1 ring to Malone's 0, who's better?(Malone)
Pippen's 6 rings to Dr J's 1, who's better?(Dr.J)
Longley's 3 rings to Hakeem's 2, who's better?(Hakeem)

See my point!

OVERRATED!

I think you are right because championships only see who has the best team. And if you are a rookie or your team isn't the best you don't get rings. And sometimes people who barely play get rings so you can't rate a player's ability on how many championships ther *team* has won.

point well taken...but i would have to say no it's not overrated. What you have done is simply compare players. Now that's a different topic altogether. Winning a championship in any sport is achieving the ultimate level of success...so while Hakeem is far far far more superior a player than your Luc Longley, as a TEAM, Chicago was much better for those 3 years. We are talking team sports here. Everyone knows that Bird was one of the greatest players ever, but the fact that he has 3 rings is a testament to how good Boston was as a team during those ears. If you played, you would realize that it is not overrated. You pour your blood, sweat and tears into your career...year after year...and you want to see the fruit of your labor. Scoring titles, and other individual praise is not what it's about. Now when a player such as Barkley or Ewing finds himself at the end of his career, and still they have no ring...that's when they look back and say yeah i had a great career, BUT they will always be remembered as having no rings. Truth is, i bet that's what they remember too.

To a point they could be, but, I bet if Kobe hadn't played with Shaq the topic of him even winning a title would be moot. In basketball, rarely does the team with just the best player win, it almost always is the best team that wins.

omg. again, doing this stuff just to put down kobe and bring up wade.

u should get a life

it depends on the leading star, not the backup players. if you are the star, its not overrated. if you are a guy that plays 4 mins per game, its overrated.

kobe leads the team, for him its not overrated u dumass *****
