To be 100% honest I don't believe the statistics are different in any phase of life.. Sports have well known names and this is itself becomes news worthy.. It's all about selling papers and known names sell more papers.

They aren't. The two sports require completely different physiques. American footballs, some need to b immovable objects at 350, 400lbs and are very explosive, would never last in a game of rugby over 90 minutes. The American Wide receivers would have the pace to match, or even beat rugby backs, but wouldn't have the strength to take down a forward such as Jamie Heaslip running at him at full pace. Again the endurance wouldn't be up to scratch. The only position I could see from American Football being able to play rugby would be the Running Backs. As for rugby players, the forward back row (7, 8 & 9) would make great running backs and the fullback and wingers (11,14 & 15) would make great wide receivers, with some even making great Running Backs ( Jonah Lomu as a good example, youtube his highlights) aside from that, they would be either too slow or not explosive enough for the rest of the positions. Neither are the better athletes, (although rugby players are be better all rounders), because each have trained and honed their bodies to be sport specific. Aside from a few exceptions, professionals from either could not play the other sport

No, that was just that one year that the NFL had, I think it was back in 1999 was when the NFL had all those players arrest.
NBA is definatley more likely to commit crimes. It keeps on going on and on and on, with Kobe Bryant raping that girl and Allen Iverson, who knows how many times he's been arrested. How about the infamous Basket-Brawl between the Pistons and Pacers back in 2004 when fans got involved in the fight. Alot of these NBA Players Today act like they're above everybody else and think they just get away doing what they're doing now with part of the reason being those players acting foolish once they receive those millions of dollars.

How many more players does the NFL have compared to the NBA? I think you get a more thuggish attitude in the NBA and a lot more players with an entourage.
Plus, the NFL players are going to police themselves with the new 3 strikes your out rule.

Maybe it is just more publicized or maybe there are just more players in football than in basketball. That would be a good thing to research. How many players in each field and then how many crimes are committed. Then figure out how many crimes per athlete in each field. It's probably very close.

They are in the spotlight. It just seems like they are in trouble every week but its just because the media won't shut up about it. They are high profile athletes and if they fart in public it will be all over the news...
