I am a bassist. The problem is one guitarist who has constantly annoyed me, saying that the only reason I play bass is cause I can't hack real guitar, that bass is too easy and that I must be stupid if I'm a bassist. He also thinks that because he plays classical guitar and works from staves that he is a 'better' musician. I can't help preferring to play bass or use tab.
Now I want to get back at him, preferably infront of his friends who are ALWAYS with him.
Any comebacks for this bassist in distress?

I don't know if this is really a comeback, but you could point out that musicianship is about the result, not the method. Its what the music sounds like that is important, not how it is made. Music was originally man's way of imitating some of the sounds of Nature, for example birdsong, or the sound of the sea on the shore. Nature does not use staves, or even tab. many people close their eyes whan listening to music, to remove the distraction of the sense of sight. It is the sound that is important.

You could point out that tab is much older than staves, and is therefore more authentic. Ask him why he is using such a new fangled method of writing music.

Ask him why he feels threatened by your playing? If he does not feel threatened why does he keep attacking you. Is he that unsure of nhis superiority?

Bet he wouldn't say that to Lemmy!
Basses are nice & heavy, just **** him over the head with it, that'll shut him up!
