One note, HEADERS! ok, meaning something of the exhaust will favor to get replaced too, yet what the heck. Do you only like it to SOUND aggressive? Exhaust may do it. like it to BE aggressive? properly, then examine on. next step up from there's a cam. Gotta coach some restraint in that branch, fantastically with a 305. no longer something larger than a Comp Cams 270H for a 305....perhaps something like a Summit 272/282 grind. The 282/282 "L-80 2" cam is only incorrect for a 305 (do not ask how i understand) and could be way down on ability. The 282/292 grind calls for more suitable compression, carb, intake, headers, torque converter with a larger stall % and perhaps rear gears (searching on in case you SS has something over a three.40 2 ratio). I went through all those issues on my '80 4 Monte many years again. finished duals and not using a crossover could SOUND aggressive, yet no longer at an idle. no longer particular of your definition of loud inspite of the truth that, mine became properly into cost ticket territory in maximum municipalities even as it became operating 2 a million/2" glasspacks laying aside the headers.....a lot more suitable mellow after installation a suitable exhaust equipment.

The gasket between the throttle body and the intake, if this is leaking, you have no vacuum.
Best of Luck!

so many possible.possibly clogging caty converter, high mileage, leaking around rings or valve seats.check blowby at pcv or oil filler if its blowing out its worn out. is carb adjusted with vacuum guage?try advancing timing, it may be retarded due to worn timing chain.

pass through what system?........are you saying you don,t have enough vacuum to run your engine......or just not enough to work your power assist brake system...............if you changed your camshaft......you may need to add a vacuum reservoir........if your saying...not enough to run on.......check your piston ring,s....also make sure you don,t have your valve timing too far advanced!........also make sure your rocker arm,s are adjusted correctly.
