Look what happened to every coin since the silver dollar. If there is a paper alternative, people would rather use that. Too much hassle to carry around a pocket full of coins!

No...what makes them think that it's going to be any better than the Sacagawea dollar? It'll never fly. The only time people will carry the dollar coin is when the paper dollar becomes obsolete. But I do plan on collecting a few.

i plan to collect them the mint proofs and i have been spending them almost everyday i love the gold color makes me feel rich like gold coins. and most carry about 6-8 quarters at any given time so if i carry 6-8 of them i have $6-8 instead of a dollar n half. lol

I laugh every time the mint produces dollar coins. First there were those big silver dollars, then susan b. anthony dollars, then the sacajawea (sp?) dollars. The mint produces them to sell to you! It costs then a few cents to make them and you buy them for a buck. If they were serious about people using dollar coins they would get rid of the dollar bill, England did it in the 80s...they got rid of one pound notes. and Europe uses 1 euro and 2 euro coins.

I plan on using them. Coins last longer than paper money, so it makes economic sense to replace low denomination bills with coins. I would approve of the mint refusing to print any more dollar bills and force adoption of dollar coins.

I am from Canada and we have had a dollar coin for what seems like forever, I don't think it has caused anything very life-altering since the beginning of it's existence.

that will probably depend a lot on the size of the new $ coin--I never seen the old ones buy my Uncle says they were nearly the size of a quarter and got people confused-----I don't think they will be popular if that is the case.

Neither. I am a coin collector but since they dropped the "In God We Trust" off I will keep them out of my pocket.
