i failed the exam by two points, and the reason i failed was because i wasnt exactly sure what to study, but i didnt ask my teacher either. it was on everything we learned this year so i studied what i thought would be asked, and it ended up being much different

I don't know what reasons cause you failed this exam, but you know everybody has bad day.
Just be honest to tell your parents that the results of this exam wasn't good, tell me whatever the reason that you have such as I did study but the questions was far from what I have studied, or I didn't prepare well on this exam, please forgive me , I will try my best to improve more next time. I think your parents will understand that.
Hopefully it helps, GOOD LUCK!

You can start by telling one of them, whichever you feel closest to, and I'll pretend it is your mom. Tell your mom in private that you did really bad, but that you know you can do better and that you will do everything you can to improve your grade for that class. If she asks what went wrong, tell her the truth, and if you need help then tell her that too. Maybe you can find a study budy or maybe it was a one time thing. Either way, if your parents keep a close watch on your grades, they will find out that your grade is lower than they might assume you would get, so you should inform them now just to keep communication with them. They will appreciate the fact that you keep them informed, don't close yourself off from them. Good luck.

Honestly! Why did you fail the exam? With an A- to start off with, something must have happened. You need to explain this to them as well and learn from your mistakes.

tell your parents the truth, and also mention how you were afraid to tell them. I did the same thing, and my parents said its okay once in a while, and don't worry about it. most students put pressure on themselves to get good grades, when the parents are much more merciful. don't stress out!

just tell them. i know its hard, i used to be a strait a student, that is before i got a new teacher in math. just spit it out. ask your teacher if you can do some extra credit to make up for the test.

compliment them, cook (or buy) a really delicious dinner, clean up afterwards, clean the whole house, and then tell your parents.
