My walls have soot from candle use and without realizing a wet sponge only made it worst. I am moving and would rather not have to pay to have all walls repainted.

Get one of those "magic erasers" from Dysons....I think they might sell them at supermarkets too.

You just cut a piece off, wet it, then rub the marks off the walls. I had magnolia walls in my last apartment, and they had quite a few marks from various sources. I just went around the flat with the magic eraser, and it looked freshly painted when I'd finished!!

Use beeswax candles to avoid soot smoke damage in the first place.

To remove soot and smoke from walls furniture and floors, do the following. Mix together:

4-6 tablespoons of TSP
1 cup bleach
1 gallon warm water
wear rubber gloves when cleaning.

Do not repaint until walls and ceilings are completely dry.

I know this sound weird but have you tried using a piece of bread?! Rub it on the soot patch it should take most of it off.
