Under US law, as long as you reason for changing your name is legal, there are no restrictions on what you change it to. I agree with the person that said their is no such thing as a Japanese-American name. There are names that come from Japan and those that don't. Its not 'politically correct', but I would argue there is no such thing as an African-American. You are either and American or you are not. Most so called African-Americans have never been to Africa anyway. Even if the had, that would make them Americans of African descent.

No such thing as a Japanese-American name. It's either a Japanese name or it isn't; there are no American names, except maybe Pocahontas or something. Leave the political correctness at the liberal university.
