Shouldn't all the candidates be focused on the issues? Both Democratic and Republican candidates attack each other while not attacking the problem at hand. All Americans should unite to battle the problems we face as a country: terrorism, immigration, crime, drugs, social security, medicare, healthcare, etc, etc, etc.

Don't worry too much about the politics. This is how out system works. As ugly as the rhetoric can get it is still a much better system than the violent overthrows and things like that we see in some other countries.

You are correct, however, about Americans uniting to battle terrorism. The Democrats seem to be unwilling to put partisanship behind them. They certainly did not when they were in the minority no matter how much the president tried to reach out to them. They have shown no intention to do so as the majority.

This is most unfortunate. Once American troops are in harms way all political back-biting should cease and all support given to whomever is the Commander-in-Chief until we are victorious. Because, if we are not victorious all the rest of the issues will be moot.

I think people have realized that and are trying to come together. It is not an easy task with so many different interests and agendas. Keep up with the latest news and stay alert, because progress is being made. American people have to exercise a little patience. As for the coming election, there is a need for these candidates to raise funds and gain popularity. It is unfortunate that money plays such a big part in politics. Personally, I am ignoring all the candidates until close to election. It seems more important to focus on what our present government is doing to better the country and resolve world issues.

The Democrats are focusing on the issues.

Right now the biggest issue is whether we will have democracy and freedom, and even a middle class, or devolve into some feudal dystopia beyond George Orwell's worst nightmare. Unless we do that all other problems are irrelevant.

Once that problem is solved the rest are comparatively easy.

An Honest government will spend the money needed on enforcing laws that need enforcing, not enforcing laws against thought crimes, and making actual crimes legal. The whole Gang Of Pirates would be in jail, and enforcing the RICO laws on them would pay off the national debt.

The Hornets nest will quiet down when we stop kicking it.

Social Security will work fine when it is funded again, and business will work better when the top quarter of a percent pirates are paying what they should and did for the golden years in America.

When every job is held by a decently paid American, Immigration will again go away as a problem as it has before.

When every American has decent Health care, without a Gang Of Pirates, it would cost half what it does today and Medicare would be superfluous.

There are some in both parties who focus on issues. However, many rely upon aides and lobbyists for decisions on legislation and to media polls for stands on issues. This is why we have political correctness instead legislative correctness. People who trash others are trash themselves looking for company. It has become fashionable to attack the person which is the opposite of what we learn in debate class. Lastly, many Americans attack each other through greed, pseudo-intellectualism, and material greed so politicians feel safe slugging it out knowing full well that it is just part of the American way sadly.

Well I can tell you this... both parties use the same tactics... Divide and conquer... as long as the American people continue to vote just by the party. it will never change. Try to go and vote for just the man... I bet you can't at regular polls. They will grab your voters reg. and punch rep or dem on it before you can say what the heck. Again it is all part of keeping us divided...They want you to think you do not have a choise... The more mud they sling the more money it costs us , as in United States. and the more they like it...They like scandle, because it is mud that sticks. and they can put it all over the news. I am not rep or dem. I am the scum they call Independent... I prefer Patriot. But names are just names. this is my passive fight ... I pray for my BEAUTIFUL AMERICA ... and the day she wakes up... We are still a sleeping Giant . The price of Freedom is eternal Vigilance

I think that the only way to do that would be to abolish political parties. It polarizes the equation too much. People only stand to gain in this system by opposing. Bring the individual back into politics and it will take us far.

Silly you. It's all about getting elected. The parties will tell you whatever you want to hear. Focus on your local government for solutions to problems.

It is the republicans doing it all I tell you. They want to control whom they run against as well as who they offer up. They are the sleaziest and slimiest creatures alive.
