You would need to get a directional antenae. This will have to be mounted to a mast that has a clear line of site from the hot spot to a directional antenae that is mounted on a mast at your location. Both antenaes would have to be aligned to be pointing directly at each other or the signal will not be received.

You can not accomplish what you are trying to do with an antenae that you go an purchase at Best Buy or CompUSA. This is a task best handled by a professional networking company.

The only thing you can do to connect to a hotspot is to be inside its range. If you're out of range, there's nothing you can do. The hotspot provider would have to extend their range that extra 8 kilometers. They would have to use WiMax technology to greatly broaden their coverage, or beam their network to you using a Line of Sight antenna.
