well there is no official answer to this question, there are many variables. For example do you consider getting to the center just hitting the tootsie roll center or having it completely uncovered? Also depending on how you lick it. If you take biiiiig licks you are likely to get there in less licks... My friend tried this once and uncovered one whole side in 268 licks. The best way to find an answer? Grab a tootsie pop and start licking!

I actually have the answer as far as my own licking ability is concerned. It took me 386 licks to hit the center of a Tootsie Pop. I spent the entire day of school way back when on this experiment. In the end my tongue was a bit raw but I was satisfied with my answer to this question. Many things will factor in thou. The amount of spit one had in ones mouth. The length of ones tongue. The determination one has to reach this goal and become whole. 386 is what it took me. That is my answer for myself. But for you to truly know for your own self you most go now and buy a Tootsie Roll Pop and began licking. Lick like there is no tomorrow and only then will you have your own personal conclusion.This answer to this is one is ones own personal quest. P.S. Remember no biting haha! When I was in the 5th grade, I counted. It took me 1,417 licks to get to the center.
I mailed this information in to the tootsie roll company and they sent me a certificate that has my name, the number of licks, and some important signature. I was never more proud in my life.
