Depends on what it is?

Musical instruments have to be over 100 years old to be considered valuable and or antique.

Most other things have to be over 50 years old.

Anything under 50 years old is considered vintage. Which is still good depending on what it is. Some vintage things are more valuable than antiques...

You have periods of value for specific items., Like American, Pen-Dutch, Art Decco, So it really depends... A Tiffany Art Decco Lamp is usually only 80 years old... Not quite 100 years but still antique, not Vintage...

I have Woodblock Prints and Etchings that are not 100 years old but classified as antique... and Textiles like WWII Kimono... They are bought and sold as antiques even though they are only from the 40's...

An antique is 100 years, 40 years is just vintage.

my first thought is always 30 years for antique
as a rule I guess? And collectibles is 15 or 16
years or until nostalgia kicks in for "any item"
or is that toys and memorabilia? There are some
great articles on antique values. Happy treasure
hunting!

In the secondary market it has to be 25 years old to be classified as an Antique.

At the flea-markets and garage sales.....it could be anything that LOOKS OLD!!! LOL

FYI If it is called vintage does not mean it is an antique.

Antique is over a hundred, less than that could be called a collectible.
