I am 18 and I have never had a boyfriend ( which is due to me being afraid to SPEAK to guys.. gah, I hate it ).
Anyhow, I think it's okay to date at 15 but no earlier than that. Anything under 14 is too young.
It makes me sick when I read about young 12, 13, and 14 year olds having sex. It doesn't bother me as much when a 17 or 18 year old says they had it.
Younger teens shouldn't be worrying about that. 13 year olds shouldn't be dating. Flirtation is okay, and to have crushes is fine. I had tons when I was young. I liked my first guy when I was 7.

I have a 2 year old who will not be allowed to date until the age of 16 and that only depends on if he is mature enough and responsible enough, if not he will be waiting until he is 18.

Kids younger then16 are just not really emotionally ready for a relationship and undertsand truly what a relationship is and what dating about and then you got the problem with teens having sex and so many getting pregnant.

It seems no sooner two young teens get together they are jumping into bed with each other or telling each other they love you and can not live without you. My little sister is 15 and keeps jumping back and fourth between two boys who inn my and my parents eyes are both trash and same goes for there families. No sooner she gets with them she is telling them how much she loves them and can not live without them. I caught her tongue kissing one of them one day and I flipped, she is a 15 year old child for christ sakes, she should not be doing such a thing.

With dating comes kissing and hanging all over each other and to me no young teen should be doing that.

Well, you are young and you aren't in control of your new-found emotions yet. It is SO easy to get carried away by emotions and hormones, even before you can realize it is happening to stop it. As for when you are ALLOWED to date...that's up to your parents. It is important to do what they say though....they are your parents. Just remember, you have your whole life ahead of you. It doesn't seem that way now, but it's true. (I'm not saying this as an "old" person. I'm saying this as a college student...recently married.)

I don't agree with placing a blanket age range on things.
Some teenagers are very mature and are ready to experience life a bit. Others are borderline retarded and should not just yet.

Depends on the individual and when my child is a teenager, I will go by his maturity level.

You answered your own question--your hormones are ready--but do you know for what?--At those ages your hormones are crazy and new..you need time to get use to them without the dating thing.

My son REALLY wants to date. Has been trying since he was 12. The problem is; every girl he has dated, has rudely! dumped him with out warning. One week they are dating, the next week; sorry, I found some one new. Now get lost. Don't call, don't write, and DON'T EXPECT an explanation.

It just depends on how early a parent is willing to deal with their daughter getting knocked up.

i think we should b able to date....i have been dating since i was 11 and my mom is ok with it she just ah sto meet the guy first...i think they trust you they just dont trust what the guy will do to you...and im not saying guyz are all nasty but parents think so becuz they are very protective over there babiez...so if you can prove to them that you are responsible and that you can controll ur hormones then everything will be ok...thats the only reason why i can date

Because your hormones are ready but your impulse control may not be.
