River are made of water - correct.
Water is made of chemicals - incorrect.
Water is made up of the atomic elements Hydrogen(2) and Oxygen(1). H2O. There can be other chemicals and compounds in water from several sources: pollution, fortification, solvents, organisms, wildlife, etc. Water dissolves many compounds found in nature so they would flow along together until something stop that cycle. Your question is very broad with no definitive single answer as far as where these chemicals come from. Depends on the chemical compound really.

Water is called the universal solvent because it dissolves more substances than any other liquid. So wherever water goes, either through the ground, our bodies, it takes along valuable nutrients, chemicals, and minerals. The chemicals in water come from where the water traveled. We all know it is H2O but that is its atomic structure and not its chemical make-up, which is what gives water certain colors and smells as well.

All chemicals come from the pre -' Big Bang ' exotic mass.
Of course the ' Big Bang ' is responsible for the dispersion of those chemicals throughout the Universe.

Water is itself a chemical, it isn't made up of them.
Did you mean elements? They were always there, since the beginning of the universe.
