I'm a swimmer and tons of people are telling me to shave my arms for championships. (Because removing the hair and dead skin cells increases "feel for the water. It's supposed to help a lot . . but I dunno)

But I'm afraid that it will just grow back thicker later! My arm hair is barely there and I don't want that to change once it grows back.

No. Shaving hair doesn't make it grow back thicker. It also doesn't affect the color or rate of growth. The color, location, thickness and length of hair on your body mainly depend on genetics and hormones.

After you shave body hair, it may feel coarse or "stubbly" for a time as it grows out. During this phase, it may be more noticeable — and may appear darker or thicker. But it's not.

No, it won't grow back thicker. Your arm hair has nothing to do with your swimming ability. If hair grew back thicker with shaving there would be no bald people. What could happen is that your hair could eventually thin out and not grow at all. Also shaving will give you ugly stubble.

it's not true. It doesn't grow back any thicker, it will look thicker cause it will have more color in it. The longer it gets and more exposed to the sun it gets, it will get lighter and look thinner.

Have you ever had a cast? I have also shaved the hair on my arms and legs, and I am a dude. There's no difference in the thickness.

If you dont want to shave it, then dont. And every body has theit own body difference. WHen i shaved my underarms the hair grew back the same way it was before. But again you dont have to, and anyways it's such a small area, so if you need to shave its not that bad

No
It's just that you saw your arm with no hair. Now even the smallest amount seams like the end of the world.

I have always read in magazines that it won't grow back more, or thicker. But from personal experience it always feels like there is more, or that it is more noticeable/thicker.

do not do this because yes it will grow back thicker and sooner or later you will get tired of shaving them and they will stay thick and gross. Not to mention I doubt it would help

experience: one of my friends does that and it is a pain in the butt for her since she can't stop now!! plus it looks really funny and you can get big cuts on your arm which isn't good for swimming

Yes there will grow more hair, longer and I guess thicker too. Not a good idea to do it once only. You gotta keep doing it daily once you do it. Good luck maybe up your mind, and thanks for reading.
