Well, i did some looking online, and i became a volunteer for a local cat shelter. There is no specific age, since you're not getting paid. As long as you know what you're doing, then you will be able to volunteer anywhere.

Our vet take kids at 14 but no younger. And some of the vets my son looked at would take him until 16 (he wants to be a vet). Do you live in a city with a zoo? My mom and brother both work at zoos and both have summer programs for kids your age. My brother's zoo is very expensive but my mom's is free. Good luck. I know it is frusterating. We had the same problem!

Sorry but I think you have to be at least 16 to volunteer. Try looking up your local SPCA. They always need help. If you can't you can always dogsit for neighbors. I do that along with my current job at a animal clinic. Most people prefer not taking them to a boarding facility. Good Luck!

You can look at www.petfinder.com to see what shelters are near you. At 11, you'll probably have to have a parent volunteer with you.
