You could try CLR but if your wanted a household hint try pure lemon juice (the one you can buy in a little lemon plastic container is real good. Then after applying the lemon on the plate add some salt that should do away with your rust marks. Also in the grocery stores they have a rust remover called zoot.

I have used a product called Iron Out. It works well on most colorfast surfaces but the fumes are terrible. Iron Out works well on sinks, tubs, toilets, water softeners, and on white clothes. I have used it on dishes, pans and other items that have rust stains. It is very effective, but as I have said, the fumes are very nasty. Use it outside, or near an open window. Do Not inhale the fumes. You can find Iron Out at most department stores like Meijer, WalMart, Home Depot, Menards and Lowes. Good luck.

You don't need to clean the interior of your dishwasher if you use it regularly. If it goes un-used for a week or more and begins to mold or smell bad, you can clean it using Glisten Dishwasher Cleaner and Deodorizer, available in our accessories section.

Exterior cleaning
Just clean the exterior of your dishwasher with a damp sponge and a little dish detergent.

Rust removal
Try RoVer Rust Remover to remove rust stains from the inside of your dishwasher. You can find this product in our accessories section.

Dish rack repairs
If the plastic coating wears off of the tines of the dish racks in your dishwasher, they may corrode and rust. We have repair kits available for those tines in Light Blue, Gray, and White. These repair kits can be found in our accessories section.

Filter cleaning
On many dishwashers, there's a filter near the bottom, or under the lower spray arm that needs to be cleaned regularly. If you have this sort of filter, check your owner's manual to find out how to remove and clean it. If it has holes in it, replace it to protect the pump and motor seals from particles that may be in the dishwasher.

Spray arm cleaning
Over time, the small holes in the spray arm(s) of your dishwasher may become clogged with bits of paper, toothpicks, glass, etc. Your dishwasher will do a better job of cleaning your dishes if you take a moment to clean out these small holes, from time to time.

First try peroxide soak the stain and let sit for awhile. Then use dishwasher detergent to clean them. If that does not do it then try cream of tartar(buy at the supermarket where the spices are) and peroxide make a paste and use that.

On dry dishes, apply a solution of lemon/synthetic white vinegar/10%oxalic aicd (try a chemist''s) and salt and scrub away. Failing that, a commercial stain removal product for dishes and surfaces, or a spot cleaner will also do, if available.
