Elements are elements, that means that they are pure and they are only one thing. Chlorine is made of chlorine atoms, and thats all. Whatever the element is, thats what its made of

and to add to the answer above me, protons and neutrons are made of quarks. Protons are positively charged, neutrons neutrally charged, and electrons negatively charged
