Wow that takes me back! I was 1 year old when that was no.1 in the charts! My older sis was into all that synthesizer stuff back then.When she got married i inherited all her records including that - single & album.Haven't played it in ages & it still gives me goosebumps.
The song is a reference to the film Bladerunner where you could "order" android friends or companions from an escort agency.In the song Numan realizes who or what has come to visit him.Classic!
