I would like to know why Tyler Perry insists on making his own movies?

It is obvious that he isn't a good director, or even a good writer. Why are people flocking to bad movies, with the same characters and plots?

He insists on making his own movies because he knows how he wants things to be done in his movies. And, maybe because he wants the profits for himself. Why pay someone to direct when you can do it yourself?
And the reason why people flock to those movies is because they know someone in their family or someone they grew up with that had the mannerisms that his character, Madea, has. (He said the character is a mix of his aunt and his grandmother.)
I am black and I do not like any of his movies, plays, whatever because I just do not find them funny or interesting.
Oh, and as for the same character and plots? How about "Rocky"? Or those "Earnest" movies? They are the same and have the same plot.

People have been doing that since the beginning of cinema. Most people are too stupid to realise, and that is why studios keep making bad movies. I have no idea who Tyler Perry is. But if he's prepared to produce his own films, then he must believe they have something. Maybe he'll become a cult director, and then who'll have the last laugh?

This is a perpetual problem with American Cinema, but for those who like Tyler Perry's movies we could say that he knows there is a market for his movies, but without being writer/director and occasionallu producer/actor he probably has a tough time getting the greenlight from major studios.

His movies have a good message, and I think he's VERY talented. Due to the overwhelming popularity of his plays and movies, I think other people agree.

I agree, but he must be doing something right because he's made hundreds of millions of dollars. He knows his audience and plays to it.
