Well let me tell you. I am a red head, and freckles usually happen with fair skinned people. I used to HATE my freckles, make-up doesn't look right on my face, and I still get them to this day on my arms. I have more on my left arm, then the right from driving. I hate them most of the time. This is what the online dictionary says about them:

Freckles are small tan spots of melanin on the skin of people with fair complexions, though rarely people of African descent get them.

Having freckles is genetic and is related to the presence of the melanocortin-1 receptor MC1R gene variant. Freckling can also be triggered by long exposure to sunlight, such as suntanning. When the sun's rays penetrate the skin, they activate melanocytes which can cause freckles to become darker and more numerous, although the distribution of melanin is not the same. Fair hair such as blonde, or more commonly red hair, are usually common with the genetic factor of freckles, but none so much as fair or pale skin.

Freckles are predominantly found on the face, although they may appear on any skin exposed to the sun. Freckles are rare on infants, and more common on children before puberty; they are less common on adults.

Children that do not produce enough melanin to protect their skin against harmful rays from the sun develop temporary freckles associated with childhood that usually go away upon puberty, once more melanin is properly produced. People with the fairest skin often do not produce enough melanin, and so freckles are present after puberty and into adulthood, indicating that individual as a genetic carrier for freckles.

Upon exposure to the sun, freckles will reappear if they have been altered with creams or lasers and not protected from the Sun, but do however fade with age in some cases. Freckles are not a skin disorder. People with a predisposition to freckles may be especially susceptible to sunburn and skin cancer, and should therefore take extra care to protect themselves in the sun with a daily sunblock of at least 15 SPF.

In dermatology, the synonym ephelides is used to designate freckles.

well time in the sun makes you get freckles. i dont know whether or not sunscreen prevents your freckle development or not but you should wear it outside. having no freckles is pretty nice though but if you want freckles then you want freckles! sun is the only way to naturally get freckles. other choice: paint them on? jk if you're old enough then maybe you could get some tattooed on? seriously im sure you could bcuz they can tattoo makeup & eyebrows.

Why would you want freckles? Just be happy with your own skin, many people who have freckles wish that they DIDN'T have freckles... kind of like how people with wavy hair want straight hair, and people with straight hair want wavy hair, lol

and other than dotting makeup all over yourself which is a STUPID idea (no offense to those who suggested it... what happens to the day that you don't dot makeup all over yourself? or if it smears all over the place?) there is no way to get freckles, please wear sunscreen as it will help protect you from skin cancer

Hmmm....I don't really know why anyone would WANT freckles...it's usually a thing people don't want...but the only real way to get them is to go lay out in the sun!

from the sun..and that doesn't automatically mean you get skin cancer... and if you refuse to do so...
