But also maybe they value family and experiences with their family more than wealthier folks so they have more children. Also, it shows the world that they can be "rich" in at least one way: number of relatives. And spending time with family is a form of entertainment they can afford. Plus, I think poor folks seem to depend more on relatives than richer ones so they have more kids so they will have a bigger network of people to interact with.

This is an insult to large families "in general" you need to broaden your statistic's search. Only lazy people are poor...does that sound right? Well neither does your question. I grew up in a neighborhood with large families, every house was on an acre of land, at least. Then fathers worked hard, they took pride in their
job(s).
I traveled many years, and didn't have to read statistics about the bums that wanted a hand out because they were just flat lazy! This is more of a geographical and job availability standard Q., and yes, in a mining town perhaps large families suffered from a loss of job, or mining accident. There are many more statistics I can add here but, why should I do your homework?
Lastly, I have met poor family's with only one or two children. So, the tax deduction theory doesn't fit this agenda either.
Get a life.

A fact that a lot of people are missing is that when you have less outside of your family, you naturally vaule your family more and define yourself more by your family. No matter how hard working a poor person may be, if at the end of the day they are still considered poor, and therefore not afforded the benefits of the middle and upper classes, they will naturally take more comfort in their immediate surroundings at home, including family, and define themselves by the success of the family more then by the success of their economic state or other mitigating factors and without the distractions of some of the things in life that are not available to the poor. To expand the family is to grow the primary way they define themselves and comes easily and without a hard ceiling.

Several reasons:
People that are successful are usually very responsible. So they have fewer accidental children. They also usually are the same people that work 50 to 60 hours a week, so they have little time for children.
People that are poor, tend to be that way because they make very poor choices. Naturally they have more accidental children. Such people usually have bad habits, drug or alcohol problems, etc, that will keep them poor. These same factors lead to accidental pregnancies.
People with many children also have less money, after they feed their kids, so they are poor.
Finally it can be a self-esteem problem. Women with low self-esteem will sleep with just about anyone, and don’t think about the issue of birth control. Women with low self-esteem tend not to get good jobs.

Well , maybe they like the closeness of a large family . When your rich ,they dont always want alot of children , there too busy .
The truth of the matter is you are RICH , in so many ways with a large family .
Being rich helps , but its not everything to life , even the rich have problems . Look at Anna Nicole , where is she now , and so many others . They have there problems too , the rich that is .

I've never noticed that to be true, I come from a relativly poor family I have one sister, I live with a weathy fellah who has 5 siblings, I go to school with a rich girl who's the youngest of 9.
I guess my experience has always been the opposite, I come from a pretty poor neighbourhood and I don't know anyone that had lots of siblings.

I think poor families or families that can't support there kids have more kids for comfort or they think it might benefit them in the long run. Also rich people don't have a lot of kids because they feel like the more they have the more money they have to spend on there kids which is pretty selfish. And maybe rich people don't have a lot of kids because they are to busy making money or trying to find a way to get more money out of something.

Usually, the poor do not have access to safe, affordable birth control, because often they have no health insurance. They also do not have access to safe, legal abortion, because under many state's Medicaid programs, abortion is not covered, period. Poor people often do not have transportation to get to a pharmacy even if they could get free birth control. In America, poor people are economically disposable, which is about as morally bankrupt as a culture can get. Ironic that the most disadvantaged of all Americans cannot get what they need to pull themselves up out of poverty. Because of the Conservative budget cuts of the last few decades, poor people can't get an education, either...

One of the main reasons is very low self esteem in poor women. They are less edcuated, have low or no goals set in life. They are not encourged to better them self. They are raised to think this is what I am supose to be. A great many of them don't have transportation to clinics for birth control or can't afford a baby sitter for the ones she already have. And the years ago here in Florida you got paid welfare for each child you had, we now have a limit of three ( and that cut down on birth rates here). Some states still do. So the more kids you have the more you get in welfare and food stamps.

some folks have children as a method of life insurance. if you have six children and live in the city; chances are one will be killed by gangs, drugs, or just being in the wrong place at the wrong time. but don't forget the folks who work for minimum wage and still cant make ends meet.
they get killed on the job; gas station attendants,
fast food workers. the kids that make it in life you as the parent have a choice. which one you want to live with. if none make it they all live together in one appartment until they can afford to buy a home.
