It is my son's 7th birthday today. There wasn't a call or card from his father, aunt, or Grandparents. I'm furious. How can people just walk away?

We were married for 8 years and have been divorced for 3 years now. He was a tyranical abusive drunk. His family on the other hand was very kind.

I am so sorry to hear that.

My sons 6th birthday was monday, and my husband didn't bother with a present or a card either.

My husband is doing the same thing. His is drugs. He hasn't seen our children in almost a week. Thankfully, my in-laws are not sharing his feelings.

I can understand (not really, sure how to explain it) the father walking away, but not the rest of the family, especially when you need them now, and your son has not done a thing to them. That is very wrong of them, and I would probably call them and give them heck for it. there is no excuse at all for a grandparent to act that way.

Good luck.

Darling they call but no one answer (at least that the excuse they will used in a few years when they realized that they need your son)
I have 3 sons was married for 13 years to my X
while he told everyone that everything is made goes to his children he is a dead beat father he has not pay a dime for anything since 3 years our oldest just turn 18 not even a call
and we are OK about it
So take care of your child and just thank God ffor him
and let the loser out for good
Good luck

does your son carry the father's name? Did his family accept the baby before it was born as one of their own? If not that is how the whole family can walk away from your son. I am assuming your son was born out of wed lock and his dad does not even pay child support or share time in raising him.
It is a dirty rotten shame that some people make the child suffer rather then both parents. All you can do is find another role model for your son so he does not turn out like his daddy

Some just do. My son is 12 and hasn't heard or seen anyone from my ex's family, including his father since he was 2 1/2. They have our adress and phone number, but choose not to use it. My son has called and left messages in the past, but does so no longer. My husband of 9 years is in the process of adopting him to give him his name.

Some people are just pathetic. The thing you need to do is reassure your son how much you love him and how important and special his birthdays are to you.

Good luck!

try calling them and tell them u don't have a problem with them just because your relationship ended. try not to be bitter the children have a right to know their heritage, you don't know what your child's father has said to them.be as nice as you can for your child's sake, non of it is his fault.

Sounds like there was a lot of hurt in your relationship, too many nasty things said, It is not justifiable, but I've seen it happen.
When people are very hurt, they respond in unusual ways.

are you with the childs father? how much time do you make for them to visit with your son? do you expect them to come to your house, or have they rejected your invitation for you to bring him to them.
