Hi yeah its pretty easy doing a head gasket on a 1300 fiesta, you can buy a head gasket from any motorists discount centres in your area, not that expensive, there you can gey a haynes manual All Haynes manuals explain how to carry out routine maintenance, restoration and servicing of cars (and motorcycles) and are aimed primarily at the Do-it-yourselfer.

Every manual is based on a teardown and rebuild of the specific vehicle. Hundreds of photographs are taken to accompany the step-by-step instructions written from actual experience.

Just make sure you've got the right tools! : )

Good Luck!

First of all, you should get yourself an auto repair book (like haynes or chiltons manual) for your car. Head gaskets can be purchased at any auto parts store. This job may require taking off the bottom of the engine, removing the distributor, etc. Be sure to consult the manual frequently during the process. It is not that easy, depending on your automotive talents. Also, when finished, be sure to torque the bolts down to specs and in the correct order to avoid problems later down the road.

As Heather advised, buy a repair manual. It is unwise to even consider a job like this without one. The Haynes manuals tend to be pretty easy to follow. Chilton seems to include a little more detail, but also seem to cost a little more and seem to be a little harder to find around here.

I sure wouldn't call this an easy job, but you should be able to manage it if you are willing to follow the steps in the book. PLEASE spend the little extra money to have your head checked at a machine shop. You'll be glad you did in the long run.

Good luck!

Before you start make sure you read and understand how to reset your ignition timing!
You will have to take timing belt/chain off to remove the head!
If you get this wrong putting it back together you will bend your valves!
Its not an easy job for a novice!
Might pay to get a mechanic to do it!

they are really easy if you are a mechanic like me,
but if you have know idea then you will be stuck!
you need to know torque settings and other stuff
have you got new head bolts these need replacing
and the head will need sending off and checked just in case it is cracked
oh & trust me they can crack when i worked at ford i had 2 of em crack!
all so you will need to have a valve removing tool as you will have to replace the stem seals!
