Whether it's the light stuff, like weeding, or more involved activities like mowing or heavy pruning, do you prefer to do it yourself or pay a gardener to do it?

Yes! I do all of my own gardening, I even start my veggies, herbs and flowers from seeds!

I am a stress case, but getting out there in the sun and fresh air is very relaxing to me. I'm an office chair jockey, I spend most of my life indoors in stagnant air, with little natural light, and little exercise. I think it helps to keep me sane and healthy. That, and I know I am cooking for my family with quality produce without chemicals and such in it.

I also enjoy it because it's a cost effective hobby the whole family can participate in. My husband enjoys the hot peppers and garlic, and my daughter likes to grow pumpkins for halloween :)

I like doing it myself when possible, the mowing, the trimming, weeding, planting . . so great in the spring to see plants start coming up/and or coming back after a hard winter . .that little bit of green will make me smile. Plus you get fresh air, exercise . . I have read that women who do 'gardening' will be less susceptible to osteoporosis. But when I am busy . . . the neighborhood lawn mower guy gets a call . . .

Myself all the way, it's a very relaxing project, and then I can indulge in a treat after mowing the lawn or gardening. Sitting outside drinking some ice cold lemonade looking at my yard, knowing that I did it , it's a wonderful feeling of accomplishment. Also when you are entertaining outside, people will comment on your yard.

People think it is weird that I like doing things like this at the age of 19, but I find gardening to be one of the most relaxing hobbies. It is a whole lot more fun than video games.

I like gardening so much that I've started a landscaping business! The most common reasons people hire me is they don't have enough time themselves, are physically incapable of gardening or are not confident in their abilities.
