I've always been the type of person that hates to be mean, I try to avoid confrontation with anyone because I want to be liked and not hated. I just need to stick up for myself more and stop being soo shy, one day, my ex best friend said something really mean about me and I didnt say anything back..does anyone have any tips on courage????

I believe to fight back is to stoop to their level. Biblical speaking one is to remain silent when under rebuke. God will then in time show that persons true colors better than you can. When ever I tried to argue back or explain something it almost always dug a bigger deeper hole. And i new fully i was right. It does work. Pride is tough to get over but God has defended me and I have been amazed. It makes you stronger and proves you are classier. you are already stronger than you think.

By not saying anything is a sign of maturity....and to maturity takes courage! When you don't say anything to a rude comment, it means that this person didn't really get to you at all....even if it did get to you, it's doesn't look like it. I think that you are lacking confidence, not courage. Find yourself first and know who you are better before looking for courage.

I think that your courage has to come fro within, think about what she said and imagine if she was saying it to your sister or brother or mom or best friend, what would you say. I just thought I's throw that out there since sometimes it's easier to defend those we care about before ourselves.

Just go up to her & tell her how you don't like how she's bad mouthing you, don't say it all sweetly, say it like you are the one in charge. :) Make eye contact. Talk loud. Possibly you she'll think twice about doing something like that again. Hope this helps.
