Most manufacturers understand that you will need to update the machine, but you should check with them first (and get it is writing) to see if it is ok to upgrade.

As you say opening the case will void the warranty the only way you'll get around this is to get the manufactures of the computer to fit the RAM and they'll charge you a small fortune or you can wait until the warranty expires or just ignore it fit the ram and hope for the best

Adding ram will not void the warranty as long as the ram is compatible with your PC. If you want to be on the safe side you can order the ram directly from the computer company. For ex if its a dell call dell and get more ram. they will give you instructions on how to install it.
If you are totally computer illiterate and not sure then have a technician do it for you, but its really not that hard to do and most companies have help lines that walk you through the process.

If you bought it from a reputable dealer (some are, I think) then you will not invalidate your guarantee just by upgrading memory.
However, if you damage something else whilst you are doing it then that will not be covered by the guarantee.
This means that you MUST wear an earthed anti-static wrist strap all the time that you are working (cost about £3). Computer components, especially RAM are adversely affected by static. Don't believe anyone who tells you otherwise, especially if they're a PC World employee. It just means that they're lazy or inadequately trained. Sometimes they fail immediately, sometimes performance is degraded, sometimes its life is shortened.

Have the RAM installed by a technician which is certified to do repairs and upgrades on your brand of computer. Doing so will not void your warranty.

You would probably need to take it to an approved computer service center that works on your brand of pc. I would suggest going to the manufacturer's website and calling one of their contact numbers for customer service. Be sure to get the person's name that you talk to and document when you called. Ask them what you should do to preserve your warranty.

you do no longer could desire to open CPU. All you may desire to do is open the case and upload a RAM module in. in case you have no longer have been given self assurance in doing this, bypass to a reputed broker who could desire to be waiting to do it for you instantaneous.
