I'm sorry to say, I agree that the names -- because of the way they're spelled -- *scream* that the parents are trying way too hard to be original.

There is nothing wrong with the names Marcus Dwayne or Isaiah Rayshal (if "Rayshal" is a twist on some other name I'm not seeing it). But the spellings you're toying with are awful.

Honestly, it's one thing to want to give a child an uncommon name. Some of them are great, some are awful, I'm not saying otherwise -- and there's a difference between uncommon (as in, not every third person in the kid's class will have the same name) and totally - out - there - dooming - your - kid - to - a - lifetime - of - taunts. But I truly don't understand the impetus to give a child an otherwise "normal" name....and then spell it in some "new and unsual" way. I ask you sincerely: what is the point?

There's nothing wrong with the name Marcus. And it's clearly a boy's name. However, regardless of whether I like the name....the spelling you're going with *looks* very feminine. In addition to that, no one will pronounce it the way you want them to, because that spelling, to an English speaking/reading person, is properly pronounced "mar KESS." If you want the child's name to be "mar KESS" then by all means, use it, but if you want it to be pronounced like the name Marcus, you will be setting yourself up for years of being (unjustifiably) annoyed with other people, and having to constantly "correct" them.....to say nothing of setting your child up for a lifetime of that...or at least as many years as it takes him to grow up and change his name.

I don't like the spelling you've chosen for Isayah but at least a person will look at that name and know how it's pronounced.

Now, as between Marcus Dwayne and Isaiah Rayshal, I prefer the latter. I think it's a cuter name -- which is what you asked about.

Marquesse is o.k. but I do not like the way it is spelled. I like the middle name though. Is Izayah pronounced Isaiah? I like the spelling Isaiah better. Rayshal sounds like a girl name. I agree that you should stick with the original spelling for it will benefit the child in the long run.

Marquis Dwayne

There have been numerous studies on names in the workforce I saw this on 60 minutes last year. For instance say two people are going for the same job and have the exact same education, credentials and skills and not knowing their race. One of their names is Nicholas and the others name is Marquesse. The person who is named Nicholas will be 95% more likely to land the job just based on the name. Same thing if someones name was Linda and the others was Shanequa. Its sad, but that is what happens. You have to think about the childs future. You don't have to be common with the name, but something outlandish is just not right for the childs future.

Is is pronounced Marcus or Marquis?
I like Izayah Dewayne (with an extra syllable on the middle name) and Marquesse Rayshal lol.
And I also like the regular spellings of Marcus/Marquis, and Isaiah.

I really like Izayah. I am not crazy on the spelling though. I prefer more traditional spellings so Isaiah.

And is Rayshal pronounced Ray-Shaw or Ray-Shal (rhymes with Sal)?

I am not a fan of Dwayne and I don't like the spelling of Marcus either.

How about Eesa Rayshal. Very cute too. SD

A "Marquess" is a British noble title. Pronounced "mar-kwess" Adding an "e" at the end makes it a feminine name. I would suggest you not name your son "Marquesse" no matter how you plan on pronouncing it. He would eventually have problems later in life.
