My networks connects say I have a good signal
I have tried disabling my firewall-doesn't work

I am using Windows vista so IE7, but this problem existed even before I upgraded. I do not believe it has anything to do with me upgrading since I reformatted my hard drive and installed on a fresh partition. Also I was able to load pages in the first 10 minutes and install updates but afterwards I couldn't open any web pages, not even google.

Are you using IE6 or IE7? If Firefox is working, then port 80 is open and IE can access the internet. If you are using IE7, uninstall it, there are still many issues with IE7, especially if you installed it form Windows update.

The first thing that comes to mind is firewall access. Do you have a third party firewall installed, have you set the windows firewall to prevent access to the web for IE? Turn off all firewalls and try again, if it works, look to the settings of the firewall.

You HAVE to put more than "it doesn't work" if you really want some help...

Step 1: Control Panel > Internet Options: Reset EVERYTHING to defaults, delete all temp and cookies.

Step 2: Control Panel > Network Connections: On the left, click on "Set up a home or small office network". Follow the wizard and answer each step in the way you are set up.

Step 3: Restart

If no IE, then please post more info for us to help you.
