Talk to the purchasing agent, or if it is really small just talk to the owner.
Schedule a time to talk to them, make sure it is during a slow time for them so they can focus on you.
Remember that when you are trying to sell your product to them the focus should be on how much money they are going to make.
I don't know what your product is, but you want them to think that this product was all but made for their store.

Show them the product and ask them to carry it. Tell them who you expect to buy it and why it will sell in their store. If they can sell it on consignment (they only pay for what sells), even better. This info doesn't apply to most big chain stores, mainly smaller, mom-and-pop type stores.
