Depending on your situation and of course the network coverage. For instance, if you have a bunch of people using Nextel or Boost Mobile then go with Boost Mobile. Likewise, if you got a bunch of people using Cingular, go with CingularGo. Alltel U with Alltel. Etc. However, there are some major prepaid carrier that don't offer the mobile-to-mobile feature. T-Mobile ToGo doesn't with the T-Mobile customers. However, you have to pay an access fee if they do. Boost is a $1.00/day for unlimited nationwide walkie-talkie. Cingular is a $1.00 for unlimited mobile-to-mobile with Cingular customers plus 10 cents a minute to any other network or landline. Alltel is 75 cents a day which can give you mobile-to-mobile and nights and weekends free (if you designate it). T-Mobile best bet is to buy a $100 card where it will be ten cents a minute which is a steal in prepaid standards. TracFone is expensive. Net10 Wireless don't really got good coverage. Virgin Mobile runs off of Sprint CDMA network so it should got you cover if Sprint is strong in your area. Etc.

If you live in an urban area where Cricket or MetroPCS covers and do not barely leave the local coverage area, that's the best deal. $45.00 a month gives you unlimited calling without fear of overage ($45.00 a month plan does just as much as the $199.99 plans with the post-paid carriers but more!). So, if you live in the area, Cricket or MetroPCS is what you should look into.

Personally my favorite prepaid carriers are Boost Mobile and Alltel U (because I guess I have a contract with Nextel and Alltel) and these work great in the countryside. But, if I live in the area where Cricket or MetroPCS covers, I would have that then paying $300.00/month on communications. ;-)

Notwithstanding, the best prepaid mobile phone carrier is one that is very flexible and fit your needs. Good luck!

If you have the cricket phone company in your area, it can run $25 a month, just for basic phone service only, UNLIMITED local calling and NO contract. Now you can not get any better than that.

And if you do then like in San Antonio, TExas, it is $45 total, for UNLIMITED calling, UNLIMITED texting, free long distance, caller ID, 3 way and NO CONTRACT. With that you can cut off your phone service. Then on cnet.com they had an article on how to hook up to the internet thru your phone's bluetooth. If I can do that then I can drop the laptop service, but I will check on that if it is possible.

Virgin Mobile is pretty good. You can get 300 anytime minutes and 1000 night and weekend for like 30 bucks a month. Their phones are also pretty good and mine takes pictures better than my Mom's tmobile!
