Child Support Enforcement more or less works the same as a warrant. They can legally garnish his wages and attach his support obligations to any financial gains he may have. If they cannot recover anything, you won't get paid. But in most cases, you will get something one way or another.

They go after the person that is the dead beat, but if they can not located him or her then you cannot receive child support. There is other assistance that is available to you, just go to your local DHS . The child support enforcement agency in your state will take your case for free if you have the divorce papers. They will try to track down the dead beats employment through his social security number and then get a court order to start garnishments.

No, they don't pay you even if the father doesn't pay. What you can do is have the Friend of the Court order a show cause. The father will have to appear in court to explain why he isn't paying support. After that, if he still is not paying, you can have the Friend of the Court garnish his wages.
The only way to get help with finances for you and your child without him paying the support is to get state aid. If you do that and he does begin to pay, some or all of the money will go to reimburse the state for the assistance they gave you.

Unfortunately, if the non-custodial parent does not have a job and does not pay, then you do not get paid. There are options out there offered through the state for assistance, but you will have to decide if you want to contact your local Department of Human Services office or not. Also, in some states, if the non-custodial parent is collecting unemployment you will get paid. If you know the non-custodial parent is working "under the table" then you can report this to Child Support Recovery and they will follow up with the employer.

In Uk the goverment talk tough but the child support agency only gets money out of 20% of fathers so that means 80% get nothing at all. I'm one of the 20 % even though I have not seen my children for 5 years. I would like to see child support linked to seeing your children. If ex wives like mine do not let you see yourchildren then they should not get paid. I do pay however even though I do not agree with it.

If he is working and you know his Social Security number - You will receive Child Support Payments. If he moves, you will get child support payments. ( As long as he moves to a state that has reciprocity with your state). If you know where he works- report it, even if you don't know his Social Security number, a judge will get it from his employer. Contact Child Support Enforcement in your state for more information.
Good Luck.....

No! When the dad don't pay mom don't get the money. I'm sure the courts will take steps towards getting the money but it is a long process that will cost you more.(lawyer fees)
