Yes and I solved it permenately.
I purchased a metal bar from a Welding Shop locally in town that is 1" inch thick and my problem was solved. I also placed to hubs on each end to support the little bar and a brace in the middle. You can hang all the clothes you want...it's not going to break nowhere.

Yes, use a steel rod, or reinforce the wooden closet rod with extra brackets to support the weight. You might think about installing a wire closet organizer unit. You can find them at home improvement stores. Just ask for closet organizers, there are a few to choose from. It divides the clothes into sections, and no one section is too heavy, plus you get far more clothes into the closet space. They are not hard to install, but it helps to have two people. You will need to buy a level, and a good sturdy step chair. A screw driver or phillipshead screwdriver and a hammer will help. Good luck.

I've rebuilt closets where this has happened. They will break. Move the heavy stuff, like leather jackets, closer to the ends. Cut a board and prop up the middle.

I don't see why that can't happen.
You can visit a box store, Lowe's or Home Depot and they sell both the bars and perhaps what you need most supports for the pole. Talk to the store reps when you get there and they'll likely show you what you need

You can replace the wooden bar with a piece of pipe. Go to Lowe's and give them the measurements and they will cut a piece of pipe for you.

in the center of the bar you could screw a hook to your shelf if you have one an hook the bar there. it gives extra support for the bar to hold the weight. i did that cause i had the same problem. if you don't have a shelf the find a long hook or extension to hook it to the ceiling of the closet. hardware store like homedepot.
