You don't ever forget,,,you just move on with your life

They won't go away. So its up to you to deal with them and how you do that is different for everyone. Some of us have the ability to go on regardless, but if it doesn't work for you some intervention by a professional would be an answer. Always remember you can't go back only forward and that's where you can build good memories. Time will heal or at least soften many wounds. I have had some of my own. You are not alone believe me most of us have a few things they would like to forget. It's all part of life. I read somewhere a profound thought that life is living what you didn't plan.
Praying always helped me and helping others sometime puts you pain in perspective. I wish you peace and love.

Try praying. Focus on somthing positive in your life. Don't try and forget the past. Learn from it, accept it and be thankful that you made it through and are able to continue living. If you have not accepted what has happened and learned how to deal with it than you are not going to be able to move on. Remember, they are just memories. You can always make new ones. You asking this question is going to get you a lot of repsonses and after you read them they will be old MEMORIES. Some negative and some postive. You choose the ones you want to remember.

You didn't really indicate what type of bad memories. Depending on the nature of the 'bad', the answer can be different.

I'll assume this wasn't a natural disaster or an act of war.

First, forgive yourself. Normally we participate in some way and we can get critical of our own participation. Know that you had something to learn so it will be easier to forgive you if you recognize that you needed the lesson.

Next, try non-dominant hand writing. Reflect on your experience and ask a question with your dominant hand. Answer the question with your non-dominant hand. You have the asnwers you are looking for.

Live well~

i would say don't try to get over the bad memories. they are a part of who you have become. if you live in the past you will never have a future. get out and enjoy today and start making new better memories to focus on.. best of luck to you

Focus , Remember how much fun you had playing office or house as a kid? Take a page from those carefree days and have fun cleaning up, organizing or getting paperwork in order. concentrating will reward all efforts to practice due diligence. have more important things to think about..

Hi Sharon,

I had to actually block things from the past out of my mind--in order to live for today--the present. I did go to therapy, and get some pills for my nerves and depression, and am doing okay now.

Be well :)

you have two parts, your body and your soul. when people are depressed they usually assume they need to help their body, but it may be your soul that needs the attention. try praying and getting closer to God and He will help you forget.
