You need to talk them out with a counselor first off. This will help you get them into perspective.
What I did then, was pull each memory out and examine it closely. I took the positive things I learned out from these events, and "threw away" the pain.
There is a quote I'll try to express in my own words:
For every minute you dwell on the bad things in life, you lose 60 seconds of time that could be better used in bringing happiness to yourself.

when i have bad memories i try not to think about them, that is the past, nothing can be done to change it, focus on the present and future, things that will make the difference in your life and not something to waste your life on, dwelling in the past is no way to live your life, never look back because if you do and not forward instead you wont know what could hit you with your head turned.

you don't. you just learn, with time, to accept them and learn how to deal with them. bad memories that are truly bad, odn't just go away, you can't get over them. the only thing that happens is that you learn how to deal with it and that its part of life and to accept it.

deal with them and pray that they not consume you. Write or create something to bring out any pain or frustrations that can also be a healing.
