There's an restaurant in Rochester, NY called Pellegrino's! It sounds very ethnic, but that's not necessarily bad. I like the full name better than 'Rino' as a nick name.

I hope you find a name that you both love.

Pellegrino? Like the water? (see below)

I think I would have to take a pass on that one. When parents name their children something out of the ordinary they should really think of the repercussions the child will have.
Are you going to be raising the child in Italy where perhaps it would not be given a second thought or will the other kids in the neighborhood have a field day and tease him mercilessly?
Think of the child before anyone else - he will be the one saddled with the name until he grows up and can change it legally - which people do all the time.

Pellegrino is not wine it is Italian sparkling water called "San Pellegrino" and just referred to as "pellegrino" by Americans trying to be hip or suave. Pellegrino also literally means "pilgrim" in Italian, your boyfriend's family probably emigrated to the US and thought that this would be an appropriate name. A-lot of Southern Italians who emigrated to the States often used words to depict their situation or place of origin instead of actual names.

We drink that water! Amore, you must NOT name your son after water. Scusa, it's nasty. If you want a traditional Italian name try Graziano, Antonio, Massimo, Alessandro, Nicola. There are really beautiful names out there, sometimes not such as Pellegrino or Fulberto. I think your son NEEDS a good name.

I was going to say it sounds like the name of cheap wine but someone else already said it! It also sounds very Italian to me. I think it would be tough growing up in the US with that name. Do they call him Gino? I hope so.

Its a nice choice for a LAST name and Rino for a nickname - thats just mean - if he wants to marry you & have chrn down the road refuse to carry on this tradition - not all of them are good!!!!

Weird name but i am guessing right now on how to even say the name. It may sound so sexy when spoken but by the looks of it it is weird.

I am not a fan of this name at all. Sounds like a type of wine. What nickname would you use? Pelle? Grino? Yikes!

Take Care,
