I had thought my Flame Tetra was pregnant because her belly was big...and now i see a white pebble thing in my tank. And would my Tetra be around "the egg" all the time? Oh and also, would my algea eater eat it? Thank You very much

Flame tetra eggs are very small almost clear little dots. To have eggs you would need at least a male and a female. They would scatter hundreds of them in fine leafed plants in the tank. Your tetra wouldn't hang around an egg, it would very quickly eat an egg as would your algae eater. I'm sorry to say what you are seeing is not an egg.

I couldn't find any pictures of Flame Tetra eggs, nor tetra eggs in general, but here is a picture of freshwater angelfish eggs. For all intents and purposes they all look enough alike that this will, at least, help you understand what aquarium fish eggs look like. Some fish lay them on leaves, such as the angelfish have done here, some lay them on the bottom and some lay them in bubble nests, but they are all still very tiny, white eggs in multitudes. Fish can lay many hundreds to a thousand eggs. I call them tapiocas because that's what they remind me of.

Eggs are laid in floating plants and many will fall to the bottom.
They will look like tiny clear marbles. There will be anywhere from 200 to 300 eggs.
Parents should be removed after eggs are laid. Parents as well as many other fish in the tank will eat these eggs. Fry hatch after 2-3 days and are free-swimming after 2-4 more. The fry are hard to raise and must be kept under a constant regime of regular, partial water changes. Start feeding with small live and crushed dry foods.

Good luck with your little ones
