Dell generally has great specials and coupons on their laptops. You can get them for a great price. I have 2 laptops, 1 for more than 5 years and it runs just fine. If you take care of your computer, you can make it last for a long time.

Here are the current dell coupons: http://www.24houredeals.com/Dell-coupons-23-mer.html

I have a Dell laptop which cost me approx £900. I also purchased a three year extended warranty. After just over a year the battery would not charge up. This laptop sits on a table and is not lugged around yet Dell tried to tell me that it was user induced damage, the AC adapter port needed to be replaced, and with this the entire motherboard. At a cost to me of £400! The same day I received an offer in the post for new Dell laptops (admittedly inferior spec) for £249. I wrote to their head office and after numerous arguments they finally fixed it under the warranty. However I won't be buying Dell next time. Their after-sales service is abysmal.

Dell is the number one selling computer, especially in laptops (by volume). They have some real great laptops and they have some real dogs.
Never by one of their latitude series. OUr company uses a lot of Dell and that is the worse piece of ****.
However, the inspirons and the xps units are great.
If you are doing standard computing and want to use all the available software and games out there, do not buy an Apple.
However, if you want to concentrate on graphic design, they a heads above any PC compatible.

Very average.

I have been using Dell laptops for the past seven years as issued by my company and I am underwhelmed. My wife has a Samsung and they are far better. I'm sure there are many other alternatives.

Even better, try an Apple. They are really great!
