you may want to change your attitude towards the situation and try to look at this as getting closer to your little brother by expecting more of him. Tell little brother you really need some help ask him if he is big enough to help you take care of your animals. Give him small jobs at first like pouring water from a plastic pitcher into the water bowls. Maybe even give him his own special pitcher and keep it full of water so he can pour them water whenever the wants to fill the bowls. If it makes a mess put some kind of liner under the bowls. ALWAYS praise him when you see he is doing a good job tell him how much he is helping you. Give him little hugs every time you see him do something nice to your animals. By starting small and noticing the good things he is doing I believe you will be surprised at how willing he will be to help and I believe his attitude towards your animals will be more like "I can help, I am a big boy" Be creative--give him a stuffed dog tell him he should walk him when you are walking yours. put a leash on it and let him name him. Most of all get him involved--it will take a lot of effort at first but it will pay off.

Have a serious talk with him. Explain that it's not okay to hurt the animals, any more than it's okay for others to hurt him. Also explain that if he hurts the animals, one day one of them might hurt him.

Never leave him unsupervised with your pets. If he acts rough towards them in any way, immediately tell him to stop. If he doesn't, discipline him.

Getting rid of your pets is not the answer. Your brother has to be taught to respect other living beings. If you don't curb this now, he might be abusive to animals all his life, and also start hitting other children once he's in preschool, and basically develop into a bully.

You don't want this, so act now. Lay down the law, and teach him that his behavior is not acceptable.

To echo "Ms. S," this is a problem that could lead to even more serious things than him being a "bully." There is research that shows a definate link between childhood abuse of animals and VERY abusive adult behavior more at the level of physical spouse-abusers, and even many imprisoned murderers! Talk to your parents about it and get their support...but getting rid of the animals is not the answer! Your bro needs to learn what's appropriate before he gets any older and gets it in his head any deeper that abuse is OK, and you can't teach him that without the whole families' support!

Don't allow him near your pets in the 1st place. Where ever you put your pets, make sure that your brother cannot get to them, like if they are all in one room make sure to shut and lock the door. And carry a key so that you can get back in.

Ask your mother to control her son...And give him a little spank when he's rough on them. Try to explain to him that animals feel pain, too.
