it depends if youre talking about population in terms of moleclar reproduction population or like animal population.
with animals there are limiting factors, they are either biotic or abiotic. living or nonliving. nonliving would be tornados, hurriccanes, earthquakes, etc. and living would be the birthrate/deathrate, diseases, mortality. but theres also the relationships between other animals and themselves. this is mutualism (good for both animals)like the little fish that swim underneath sharkes and whales, predation(good for one, bad for another)like a tiger eating and elk, commencalism (good for one, the other doesnt care) barnicles on whales. and competition(bad for both) like having too many deer in one area, they cant find enough food for all of them. i cant think of anything else that would limit a population. but normally if the population exceeds the 'carrying capacity' of one place, the population will suffer.

Educate the women of the world and give them the opportunity to do whatever they want.
Get rid of the Catholic Church and the Evangelical missionaries who are going to less developed countries spreading their message of no birth control.

there is no real answer to this question.population growth mainly occurs in third world countries.contraception is the only real way of stopping this.the really sad part is most of the children born usually die of malnutrition at a very young age
