A business can start in many, many ways. As a hobby, as a corporation or as a partnership with a buddy.
My suggestion, start a business with doing something you know you can do and like to do. If it is going to be your business your going to be doing it all the time. You might as well enjoy yourself and that will translate to your customers.
2nd, develop a business plan. Where and what will you be doing as a business next month, next year and five years from today. Goals to meet and financial contraints you will have to stay within. Get Quick Book to keep track of things.
3rd, be sure you have an adaquate market you can reach. A great idea or business is one thing-getting someone to buy it is another. Benchmark other people/business that do what you will be doing. Learning form other's mistakes and sucesses is free.
Finally, know when to fold'em. Many business fail before 3 years. If it is not happening try partnering with someone or get in good with the local chamber of commerce to help get contacts to market your business. But, if it does not work, you have to recognize that too.

My business is very profitable. As a matter of fact, right now, the company will pay you back your investment fee in bonus form, on top of commission. I saw what the company was about, talked to friends who make a lot of money and they told me I would be dumb not to get involved. I love what I do. You could start if you wanted. Actually, as soon as you signed up, you could start bringing in income from it! Good luck on your search!
