white smoke means it's burning oil. black smoke means it's burning rich (to much gas). Sounds like you have a gas issue. Have you changed your air filter lately. I would run an oil additive such as smoke be gone, because it sounds like you know you motor is almost toast. You should have a warning like comming on if your burning rich. If it's just at idle, Is it cold where your from cars build up condensation when they sit and it burns out of the exhaust. If its cold outside you can see it.

Does the engine smoke alot when you first start it up??
Then its the valve seals,,,not too expensive to replace.
Which would also cause the motor to smoke a little at idle.
Plugged air filter,,can cause your mixture to go rich.
Other than that,,it might be the fuel mixture set too Rich.
And of course,,it could be the rings getting worn,,which would require an overhaul.
The first thing is to put it on a scope and have the sensors checked out for proper operation, if your sensors are getting bad info,,,or providing bad info to the engine management system,,,it could be causing the computer to make the fuel mixture too rich..

I don,t think some of the people who are answering are actually reading the question,s........................he said blue tinted smoke...which is oil......not black......which would be a rich fuel mixture...............you need valve seal,s.............but to be positive...have a cylinder leak down test done......to be sure your ring,s & valve,s are still in good shape!
