I ownd a 85 Monte ss. Loved it to death, but sorry to say, without some very good mods. that slow 305 in that heavy car wont hang with the turbo. GM fanatic here!

AGAIN, yes you will get beat, LOL!! The Monte Carlo is a great car, but it sounds like you should pick on a little slower cars. A Mustang 5.0 and a 280Z. If you want to pick on Fords and Nissans, try racing an '85 Thunderbird with a V8, or a new Maxima, but not pony cars and sports cars.

One word, HEADERS! ok, which skill something of the exhaust will could desire to get replaced too, yet what the heck. Do you basically decide for it to SOUND aggressive? Exhaust could do it. decide for it to BE aggressive? properly, then examine on. next step up from there's a cam. Gotta instruct some restraint in that branch, fantastically with a 305. no longer something larger than a Comp Cams 270H for a 305....perhaps something like a Summit 272/282 grind. The 282/282 "L-eighty two" cam is basically incorrect for a 305 (do no longer ask how i be responsive to) and could be way down on skill. The 282/292 grind demands greater compression, carb, intake, headers, torque converter with a greater stall velocity and perhaps rear gears (reckoning on in case you SS has something over a three.40 two ratio). I went by all those issues on my 'eighty 4 Monte some years back. finished duals with no crossover could desire to SOUND aggressive, yet no longer at an idle. uncertain of your definition of loud nevertheless, mine replaced into properly into fee ticket territory in maximum municipalities while it replaced into working 2 a million/2" glasspacks striking off the headers.....plenty greater mellow after setting up a suitable exhaust device.

The MaMa is correct. The sickly 305 in the SS is a dog, even though a lot of them came with a 4:10 rear end gear ratio.

I had an '86 SS, and had to do extensive mods to make it perform as good as it looked.

yeah probably dude your car is heavy. you might be able to get him out of the hole but after 500-600 ft his turbos will kickin

not likely.......you should have him from the start.......it will take him a few second,s to build turbo boost pressure......then he must rev. to a higher r.p.m, to equal your h.p, & torque!
