You need to overcome your fear and shyness. Self esteem is very important in life. Just ask. What do you have to lose? All she can do is say no but remember if shes turned off it could affect your friendship w/ her. Just a little warning. Good luck!

Ask her casually for a Saturday or Sunday afternoon but don't say the word "date". Substitute it for "Would you like to see a movie with me?" or "What are you doing for lunch on Sat? Would you like to try the new place with me? (restaurant/cafe/coffeehouse, etc.)
