I have two teacup chihuahuas. They are bestfriends and have been together for about 5 years. Today one of my dogs was hit by a car and killed. Is there anything I can do to help the remaining dog deal with this grief? She has been very depressed and is not herself.

My mom had to buy another dog exactly like the one she lost before the other one even ate. Dog buddies do not do well at all when one is gone. Try giving her lost of attention and treats. Spoil her an unusual amount, and mamybe she'll pop out of it like mine did. I was lucky, I didn't have to buy another dog.

That is the natural effect, not much you can do , but make sure your dog continues to eat and get regular excersice. If your dog does something bad don't punish it because your dog is probbably doing the something bad in effect in to what happened.

Poor baby!

Just give her a lot of love. Don't try getting her a new buddy yet.

let the dog greive, and when she starts to act like herself again, you can get another dog. getting another dog while your dog is greiving can cause problems.
