As an Australian wildlife carer I have had the unique opportunity to actually have several Fairy Penguins living in my home briefly. They are smelly! Very Smelly! They can bite very hard. And they tend to be busy and vocal all night long! All that aside, yes, I still think it would be great to have penguins as pets! But it's just not a workable idea! A nice one to dream about though!

Penguins would be very hard to maintain. All the fresh fish and fresh water they need every day. You would also have to maintain a lower temp for them. My mom has a ferret park in her spare bed room... There are 7 of them and they have all kinds of toys and obstacles to climb on. Any exotic animal is going to hard to take care of and a lot of work, so do your research.

i don't think keeping penguins would be very humane, try something less exotic. i would put a snake exhibit, such as a few boas or pythons. just what ever you put in there make it something safe legal and well cared for. also keep in mind how much money you will need for a cage that big, and keep in mind any environmental hazards, such as storms temperature changes and your living needs. make sure it is a safe place to be above all else. best of luck

Have you ever been around penguins? Only flamingos and skunks smell as bad.
People don't need exotic animals in their homes. They don't have the knowledge or skill to handle them as a rule. Most jurisdictions forbid them by law.

Please don't keep exotic animals in your basement. They need real sunlight, not artificial light. They require special care. They poop- and you absolutely need to clean their cages at least twice a day. They require special diets.
Get a big aquarium and turn your basement into a game room or a TV room.

It might be a little tricky to catch them when you need to clean out the exhibit. Otherwise that would be awsome. If you think you know where to get the right equipment and how to take care of them properly, try it. Tell me how that goes.

It would probably be hard and stinky. If you want something exotic, you could try an iguana exibit! Their legal, their exotic, and I would realy love to see someone with one. I wish you luck with whatever you chose!!!

I think penguins are cool but I think they have to be
in a very cold place with water. butterflies would be
cool.

That would be awesome as long as you could maintain similar conditions to the zoo's. Try it! Post pics after. Galapagos Tortoises would also be neat, because they're so incredibly large.

You had better check if these penguins are in
a waiters union.
