Why did cops in NYC search my bag on the subway for no reason ?

I'm just a young girl minding my own business. The new rules of random stop and search...is this necessary?
Does Bush think terrorists are stupid enough to place a bomb in their bag. Most bombs are attached to the body.
Also the subway has thousands of openings that terrorists can get thru with no detection. Does Bush think manning only the busy openings is going to stop a terrorist?

1) Because you let them. You betrayed your nation when you did this. Seriously. You should have told them loudly and firmly that it would be an illegal search, you refuse, then get the badge number and demand that a supervisor come down there and explain this policy. IF the officer insists let him search the bag, don't resist physically. Still demand to see a supervisor and do the following. The next day go to the police station with a witness and a videocamera. File a complaint. Then write the mayor, the governor, and your state and federal congressmen. Then go to the mayors office and demand an explanaition and keep going back every day until you get one.

2) It has nothing to do with terrorism. Our "representitives" are not stupid and are actually much smarter than most people, bush included. They just play dumb so you will let them screw you. The purpose of these searches is to get people used to government intrusion, government non-recognition of the constitutional rights and liberties we have, and used to not doing anything when they see other people being abused in this way by the police.

If the officer did not ASK to see your bag but instead TOLD you to give it to him then you should still do as much as possible of the above. It is an illegal search and if he delayed you it is a false arrest.

You might also want to put an ad on craigslist and organize a protest at the court house and outside the subway. Even better is at the local offices of the democratic and republican parties during election time. Call the media and let them know about the protest. Look around for pro-bono attorneys. If you make enough of a stink someone will represent you just for the press.

BE TENACIOUS! BE INTOLLERANT! Don't let uncle sam rape you and lady liberty and just sit there saying "ow that hurt." Tenacity and intollerance of tyrany got us this nation and they are the only things that will help us keep it.

When you file a complaint they will try to be tricky. ONLY file the complaint. Don't answer any verbal questions or make statements. The officer you file the complaint on will try to make you think that the complaints dont matter or will be swept under the rug. This is not true. He is scared and he is hoping you will get discouraged and not file a complaint. The complaint-taking officer will say "thats a pretty serious charge" he is trying to intimidate you and scare you off. Be as brief and as accurate as you can when filing the complaint. If you don't remember a detail just write that you will have to check your records. Ask for a photocopy. If they do not give you one ask for another form and fill it out to complain about the guy that would not give you a copy then go see the chief. If the form as a serial number on it (some places number each sheet of paper) write it down or ask for a reciept.


The patriot act does not give anyone the right to do a darned thing that is against the contitution. Period. Without a constitutional amendment they can not do it. You have to sue them, take it to the supreme court and clean them out. Whenever your mayor or governor makes a public speech make sure you or a friend is there to ask why they are not doing anything about these tyranical commies and facists that are trying to ruin our nation in the names of cowardice and oil.

Go to the subway and ask people to sign a list if they have been searched illegally, then try to get an attorney to file a class action lawsuit.

IF we have a problem with terrorism we need to address the cause, which is our imperialist theft of other nations freedom and assets. These guys didn't attack canada or england or denmark they attacked us and they did it because we asked for it.

THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH PRESIDENT BUSH!!!!!!! It is the crazy libs who you can blame for your search. If it were up to PRESIDENT Bush the only people who would be searched would be searched would be those who seem suspicious or look like a terrorist (sad but true is that the Arab people are the ones who are committing attacks). IT IS THE LIBERALS who feel that searches should be random. Because of this "political correctness" innocent people have to go through pointless and annoying searches too. i.e. my grandma had her bags checked at the airport. STOP BLAMING THE PRESIDENT!!

I bet that you looked suspicious being alone in the subway. Also, I hate to be rude but what color of skin do you have? If you are not white you have a much higher chance of getting searched.
They are just applying the law in airports to subways. The police in airports are allowed to do random searches, they check my backpack with a special drug scanner every time. That is kind of unfair but I have nothing to hide either.
