I'm just a young girl minding my own business. The new rules of random stop and search...is this necessary?
Does Bush think terrorists are stupid enough to place a bomb in their bag. Most bombs are attached to the body.
Also the subway has thousands of openings that terrorists can get thru with no detection. Does Bush think manning only the busy openings is going to stop a terrorist?

President Bush has absolutely NOTHING to do with how NYPD does their job!

There are no NEW rules of random "point checks" for the safety and security of the GENERAL PUBLIC on public transportation.

Where you get your information concerning "most bombs are attached to the body"....well....you need a bit more research!

My suggestion is you change your way of thinking and be GLAD that EVERYBODY's safety is being taken into consideration. Just because you were "randomly selected" is no cause to be upset. Get over yourself!

It's these very types of checks that prevent another 9/11 in this country. Are you THAT precious that you can't submit to a small delay?

Consider instead our fellow Americans and other FREE nations people who've given their lives on 9/11 and SINCE 9/11 protecting your freedoms to roam the streets in a safe manner!

Thanks for the 2 points!

It is called security for you and all other subway passengers. They could have prohibited any bags being brought on the subway trains at all. When they recieve threats and other transportation systyems get bombed, they have to put in some extra security measures to prevent an attack. The trerrorists know that there is extra security and won't even try to hit a hard target. They prefer places like bakerys, open air markets, and places of worship that are soft targets with less security.

Will it likely catch a terrorist, probably not - but then again you weren't hurt by the search (only slightly delayed) and if it stops one person from getting into the subway with something that is dangerous then it's worth the trouble.
Then again....I wish they would put that much interest in getting rid of those God awful nasty subway rats the size of small dogs!

No its against our rights to be stopped and searched for no reason, but it just another one of our rights that we are losing. I'm sure they told you it was for your own good or for your safety. Its getting worse, everytime the take away a right that we have they say it is for our own safety and a lot of people fall for it, its sad.

The London and Madrid bomber DID put bombs in their bags, WE were the stupid ones for not searching them.

...if a Police officer in NYC asked for your bag... and if you'r not a "bad-guy"... whats the big deal... did you know that the Police have taken an oath to defend "you" to the death !!!! yes, you!!!! That police officer was and is willing to die for you... The President doesn't think too much about terrorists... that's why "they" hire good police officers to protect you.... and everyone else "out there" who may do us harm... the next time you meet a police officer... give him a hug... he's willing to lay his life down for you... better not hug him, he'll think your nuts, just tell him "thanks" with a friendly smile...

They need to do something given their pay and the new bosses which employ them. Got to use them for something.

If they didn't search you and other everyday people, they would not have value. We all know we don't need them. We all know they are useless.

When we win "the war on terror" in October of 08, we need police EVERYWHERE and ability to claim they have "helped protect America" for them to keep laws passed to allow a police state.

Because they just have a job to do and part of that job is to keep you Yorkers safe. Do you remember 9/11??? Perhaps your bag looked odd.

Because, thanks to Bush and the Patriot Act, Americans have fewer and fewer rights, and "officials" can now search and detain anyone without reason.
