If it's doing this overnight, Windows may be doing a security update and then restarting.

I once downloaded a graphics program from a disc I got free with a textbook. I began having the on/off problem at the same time. I removed the program then everything was fine.

I actuallay had this problem today and fixed it.
You might have to reformat your computer.(using the reinstall disc that came with your computer.) Or you can use the disc defragmenter when you go to start/programs/accesories/system tools/disc defragmenter. that might help too. but before you reinstall windows and delete everything off of your computer, make sure you save everything that you need and that is important onto cd/rw's (for example: music/resume's/ pictures....and on and on....if you have any questions feel free to email me. Good luck.

we will need a much better description just on and off.
what happens when it turns on? just when you power up?
do you use sleep mode
do you use hybernate mode.
what it is doing when it powers down?
has it been sitting a short while, a long time, or are you in the middle of a program? is it a simple program or a power program.
are you on the internet.
please re-ask your question with more detail

Do you mean your computer or the connection? I live in the woods and can only get dial-up and it disconnects from the web a lot.
