Speaking as a person of proud Irish descent, the Irish are some of the best natured people on Earth and need very little reason or excuse to raise a pint.

Some say St. Patrick (Patrick being my real name) was English, some say Scottish, and some have even said he was French. Who cares? He was alleged to drive the snakes off the Emerald Isle and who cares where he came from. Good enough for me. Snakes are just another one of Gods creatures but I don't like them. I'll leave them alone if they leave me alone, or move to Ireland.

Another pint barkeep.

St Patrick wasn't English, he was born in Kilpatrick, near Dumbarton, in Scotland to Calpurnius and Conchessa, and they were Romans living in Britain in charge of the colonies. The Irish people don't hate the English people, they might hate what was done to their country by the English.

Patrick was Scottish, not English. Not all Irish people hate the English - I don't.
